Colossians 2:10-15
[10] and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; [11] and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; [12] having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. [13] When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, [14] having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. [15] When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.
Notes:
"I keep fighting voices in y mind that say I'm not enough
every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low
remind me once again just who I am because I need to know
Subject: The word "complete" in this passage should give every believer a deeper sense of joy. Spirtitual achievement of the Holy Spirit. This is the believer's spiritual healing.
Survery: Baptism is a symbol of the transformed heart.
- Our spiritual position is in Christ: "In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins" (1:14)
- We are qualified permanently for Heaven: "Who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saint in Light" (1:12)
- We are complete in Christ: "In Him you have been made complete" (2:10)
- We are raised up with Christ: "There if you have been raised up with Christ" (3:1)
- Christ who is our life: "When Christ who is our life" (3:4)
- Christ is our all: "But Christ who is all, and in all" (3:11)
1. Complete Freedom from Sin: "You were dead in transgressions."
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ has set you free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1-2)
2. Complete New Life: "He made you alive."
"Therefore, we have been buried with Him throguh baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4)
3. Complete Forgiveness: "Having forgiven all our transgressions."
Forgiveness from God, whom we wronged, changes His attitude and feelings toward you, the offender from anger to acceptance.
4. Complete Canceled Debt: "Having canceled out the certificate of debt."
Paul says that the debt was "nailed to the cross." What a wonderful picture that the indebtedness, which we could not pay, was paid by having the certificate nailed to the cross as our complete and full payment of debt.
5. Complete Victory: "Disarmed rulers...having triumphed over them."
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. [15] For we are a frangrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; [16] to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life. And who is adequate for these things" (2 Corinthians 2:!4)
Therefore, the believer's complete victory over satanic power and death is secured through Christ's death. We are now complete in Him!
1. Know that all your sins are forgiven and your slate has been wiped completely clean.
2. Know that you are spiritually alive "in Christ" and nothing can separate you from Him.
3. Know that God is always leading up triumphantly through life.
4. Believe His Word and you will thrive spiritually, and doubt will be defeated.
