Dealing With Sin in the Church

15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

Discussion Questions

1.      We each have a way of handing difficult issues. What is yours?

2.       Why is it so easy to just react rather than consider your response? Think of different ways this can apply. (ex. social media)

3.      Why do we “sweep it under the rug” rather than deal with it?

4.      Going to another person is so easy. What do we think we get out of doing that?

5.      Why do you think God hates it when someone spreads dissension?

6.      What do we do if the other person does not want to reconcile?
