Psalm 23
The Lord Is My Shepherd
(Ezekiel 34:11–24; John 10:1–21)
A Psalm of David.
[1] The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
[2] He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
[3] He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
for the sake of His name.
[4] Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
[5] You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
[6] Surely goodness and mercy will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

Turn away from me so I can have a moment’s joy
21 before I go to the place of no return,

like utter darkness without any order,
where even the light is as thick darkness.” (Job 10:20-22)

“I am with the sheep every day. In the summer I sleep outside with them too…If I weren’t with them everyday, I shouldn’t be their shepherd.”

Read Psalm 78:15-19
Slide 12
15 He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.
16 He made streams come out of the rock and caused waters to flow down like rivers.
17 Yet they sinned still more against him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert.
18 They tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved.
19 They spoke against God, saying, “Can God spread a table in the wilderness?” (Psalm 78:15-19)
Slide 13
By starting Psalm 23:6 starts with “Surely” there is a firm conviction that goodness and mercy follow those who follow the Shepherd.
Slide 14
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.” (Revelation 21:3)
